Our team are made up of passionate and highly-trained individuals dedicated to providing the best level of care at all times. 

Dan Seale

Director

Dan took ownership of Courtlands in 2013 and has been a driving force behind a continuous program of improvements to our facilities, ensuring they are well-prepared for the 2020s and beyond. He oversees various critical aspects, including financial matters, HR policies, and the maintenance of buildings and equipment. Dan’s focus on investments in infrastructure and training helps maintain our care home as a beautiful and secure environment.

Before his role at Courtlands, Dan worked in private medical health insurance in Exeter, and prior to that, he had a background in international treasury and banking, with experience in London and Asia. Outside of his professional life, Dan enjoys a balanced mix of interests. He’s married with three grown-up children and finds relaxation in boating, gardening, hiking, and watching rugby.

Roza Szygenda

Registered Manager

With over a decade of experience in care, Roza is our dedicated Registered Manager. Her qualifications in health and social care, business, and various specialised courses reflect her commitment. She played a pivotal role in achieving our “GOOD” rating with CQC, improving our care environment for residents, and implementing modern care planning systems. Roza’s hands-on approach ensures the smooth operation of Courtlands, even during evenings, nights, and weekends. She’s a driving force behind our compassionate team.

Claire Harris

Team Leader

Claire has worked in care for 20 years starting at Courtlands in 2008. Previously she worked with Adults with Learning Disabilities and Challenging behaviors. She has worked up to becoming a Team leader. Claire is starting her NVQ level 4 Health & Social Care and Principles in Management levels 2 / 3, Health & Safety level 3 and Award in Education & Training level 3. Specialist areas to support Residents and training of staff, Medication, Moving & Handling. She is the Fire and Health & Safety Leads.
Qualified trainer, supports Jan and Roza with in house training for Fire, Health & Safety and Moving & Handling and new staff inductions.
Outside of work enjoys family life, married with 2 teenage children, enjoys walking, Kayaking and rugby

Tanya Martin

Team Leader

Tanya has a BSc(Hons) Psychology from Plymouth University with a special interest in Adult and Cognitive Psychology. Tanya started at Courtlands in 2013 as a Care Assistant and she has progressed to Team Leader. She has almost completed her NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Adult Health & Social Care. She has Emergency First Aid training and train the trainer training in Moving & Handling. 

When not at work Tanya enjoys spending time with her partner and young daughter. 

Jan Gould

Assistant Manager

Jan brings 35 years of dedicated care experience to her role as Assistant Manager. With qualifications in Palliative Care Level 3 and an NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Health & Social Care, she’s well-equipped for her responsibilities. Jan has fostered strong relationships with healthcare professionals and our long-term residents. She’s a certified trainer, overseeing various training programs, and ensures our team maintains high standards by working across different shifts. Outside of work, she enjoys coastal walks and touring with her husband.
